Scrappin’ Jobs Interview: Creative Memories Consultant

I love Creative Memories products, especially the albums, so I was excited to get an inside scoop about what it’s like to work for such a wonderful company from my friend, Amber.  Amber Farmer is a wife and stay-at-home mom to one little girl and another due on July 25th.  She has been a Creative Memories Consultant for one year, and has agreed to answer a few of my questions about her scrappin’ job! Amber, what is your scrappin’ job, and how does it involve scrapbooking?

I am an Independent Consultant with Creative Memories.  I sell scrapbooking products, host crops and hold at home parties.
 
How did you discover this job?

I was invited to an at home party and fell in love with the products.

What made you think this job was for you?

I’m a stay at home mom and loved the flexibility of having my own home-based business.  I also really believed in the products.

What kind of hours do you work: Weekdays 9 to 5? Weekends? Anytime?

Anytime.  I fit it in when I can.  It’s very flexible.  However much or little I wish to work, is up to me.

What is your favorite thing about the job?

Getting to use the products myself and share how awesome they are with others.

What is your least favorite thing about this job?

The pressure I sometimes feel about making my monthly sales requirements.
 
Do you have any advice for people looking to get into this area of work?

Try it!  You can’t lose.  It’s flexible and lots of fun!

     a) Lot’s of fun, minimal income.    

     b) Enough to support your scrappin’ habit.           

     c) Some extra spending money for the family.           

     d) A substantial second income for your family.

What inspires you most creatively?

My daughter’s beautiful pictures.  And Creative Memories great
products make it easy to create beautiful pages.

What is your scrappin’ style?

I’m a traditional scrapper.  I like to keep it simple and keep my pictures the focus on my pages.  As I do more albums, I experiment more with decoration (stickers, colored papers, etc.)   I also enjoy Creative Memories new Digital Scrapbooks!

What is/are your favorite Creative Memories product(s)?

Oh there are too many to say!  Digital software and scrapbooks, ALBUMS,
Power Palettes, any and all of our cropping tools….the list goes on and on.
 

What are your favorite pictures to scrap? 

My family…My husband and our beautiful daughter.

What is the most difficult thing for you to scrap?

The random picture.  If I don’t have enough pictures to fill a page,
but want to use the one picture.  I guess it’s hard to figure out how to make it work.

Why did you start scrappin’?

To keep memories for my daughter.

What keeps you scrappin’?

It’s important to keep our family memories.  I love the idea of my
daughter having the albums and then passing them on to her kids…and so on.
  

Where do you see your scrapbooks in 50 years?

Definitely with family…down the line. 

Do you scrap in:     

     a) 100% paper?     

     b) 100% digital?     

     c) Mostly paper, some digital?

     d) Mostly digital, some paper?

     e) Pretty equal paper and digital?

c) Mostly paper, some digital  (I’ll be doing more digital soon.  It’s a
good way to catch up)

What is your favorite scrappin’ tip?

Don’t try tooooooo hard.  Do it the way you like and your kids and
family will love and appreciate it.  Use quality products…it makes all the difference.
