Tips & Tricks. Ideas & Inspiration. Resources for Scrapbookers.
The block party at Christina Renee Designs is still going strong, and this week’s release includes an awesomely HUGE collection of kits called The Color Theory. Each participating designer chose one color to create a monochromatic kit from
! Of course my favorite color is PINK, but I couldn’t claim that color for myself because the pink kit is a wonderful collaboration from ALL the designers, and all of the proceeds from that kit will go to the Susan G Komen foundation in honor of Breast Cancer awareness month. I was so honored to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause
!
Here’s a preview of the pink charity kit (click here to purchase).
In addition to making a few items for the pink collaboration kit, I also created my very first digital scrapbooking kit for sale! At first I didn’t have the courage to join in and try to make a whole kit, but in the last minute I decide to just go for it
! By that time the only two colors left open where burgundy or olive green. I decided on green, since I love the pink/green color combo, and I was already making some pink things for the charity kit. So, without further ado, here’s my kit, Color Theory: Olive!
(click here to purchase – it’s on sale today!)
The olive color reminds me of vintage/retro things (remember those olive green household appliances and furnishings of yesteryear?), so I made some retro style papers and embellishments for this kit. I also put in a few treasures from this summer’s antiquing trips; including an old worn page from a 1920′s hymnal I found in a local antiques store. The hymn “This is my Father’s World” was the inspiration for several of the other items in the kit, you’ll see what I mean if you read the lyrics:
This is my Father’s world,
and to my listening ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
his hand the wonders wrought.
This is my Father’s world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning light, the lily white,
declare their maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world:
he shines in all that’s fair;
in the rustling grass I hear him pass;
he speaks to me everywhere.
This is my Father’s world.
O let me ne’er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!
Isn’t that last stanza encouraging? I love old hymns like that one
!
Here’s a layout I made using the Color Theory: Olive kit, plus a few of my things from Color Theory: Pink. It was such fun to create a digital page completely using my own designs
. I will be back soon with pages made by my “one-kit-CT”
!

I also made a quick page with some of the items from Color Theory: Olive. If you like it, feel free to grab it – it’s a free gift from me to you
!
Hope you’re having a nice day, and don’t forget to include a link to your blog when you comment, so I can come visit you too
!

The kit is really awesome, and the alpha is yummy yummy yummy
This is a MUST HAVE kit!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jess, for such a beautiful page to work with! I absolutely love the entire collection. Amazing detail!
This is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much for the QP.
God gave me a little miracle when I ‘happened’ upon your blog!
I have been so stressed about all the election ‘coverage’ that I have given up TV news, newspapers, talk radio, and internet news until it is over. I have turned to prayer for the country and the world instead.
And I found the response to my prayers in the “This is my Father’s World” lyrics! That certainly shows how you never know where or when you will find the answer to prayer!
Thank you! God bless you!
