More Freebies and 10 Ideas for Your Christmas-y Shapes

Merry Christmas Everybody! {{I just wanted to let you all know that when I type that greeting, I am always hearing it in my head as a loud and joyful yell – like George Bailey’s in “It’s a Wonderful Life” – I LOVE that movie and I have to see it every year. I think Chris and I are going to watch it together once Gabe is in bed for the night.}}

Anyway, I have another Christmas-y freebie for you tonight . It’s a set of layered Christmas ornament templates which have lots of potential for creative projects. Here are two little crafts I whipped up today, a Christmas card and a photo ornament:

Tips and Tricks:

• For my Christmas card, I just designed the ornament digitally, printed it and cut it out. You could make it look more fancy by printing the parts separately (both layered and separate forms are available in the freebie), then adding dimension with foam adhesive.
• Before printing the ornament for my card, I added a slight “inner bevel” to each layer to add a little more definition.
• For the photo ornament, I deleted the stripe and dots, and used the inner circle to “clip” the photo before printing. I mounted the ornament on cardstock for extra stability.
• On the layered templates in the freebie, the ornament hangers are placed above the ornaments (not touching) for easier cutting, but if you want to make the shape one piece, like I did for my examples, you should lower that part down over the ornament before printing.

10 Ideas for Christmas-y Shapes

I had my ornament shapes in mind when I came up with this list, but you can be creative and use other Christmas shapes too, like stars, trees, angels, etc !

3. Festive banner above the fireplace
4. Card embellishment (pictured above, left)
5. Photo ornament for your tree (pictured above, right)
6. Perfectly coordinated embellishment for digi-scrapped pages
7. Use miniature shapes to make a pretty garland for your Christmas tree
8. Attach to a scrapbook page with a brad to conceal hidden journaling or photos
9. Write a Christmastime activity or Bible verse on the backs of 25 shapes, and place them in the pockets of next year’s advent calendar (as each new day goes by, you can use them for another craft from this list)
10. Shaped mini album – make your own pages out of extra heavy cardstock, chipboard or even cardboard from cereal or diaper boxes around the house !
