Sale Extended

Since I didn’t get a chance to blog about the Camping Out Quick Album sale until late Saturday, we have extended it through the end of today. So there’s still time to grab it for 20% off if you haven’t already :)!

Here are some more pages from the album, using photos from a hike we went on with my sister a few years ago. Yes, I’m way behind on my scrapping – better late than never, right? It made me so nervous to see my sister sitting right on the ledge like that, but isn’t it a beautiful photo?

Hope your week is off to a great start!!

Quick Album Sale!

jg_ww_camping_out_previewJust wanted to let you know that the Camping Out Quick Album is on sale for 20% off this weekend at Weeds and Wildflowers :)! I’ve been playing with some of the quick pages from this album, and made a 2-page layout with photos of Chris and me from over 10 years ago. Back in high school and college we had all the time in the world for hiking and camping. Those were the days :).

In that first photo I was tickling Chris to make him smile, this was the summer the romance between us first began – when I was 15 years old! In 1997 we were just friends (as far as I knew). In 1998 we were friends, but secretly in love :). It wasn’t until 2001 that we started dating again! Isn’t it fun to look back at old photos?

Tip: To make the “1998” text look like it is behind the twig frame, I just right clicked the text layer title (not the thumbnail) in the layers palette, and selected “rasterize type”. Then I used the eraser tool to erase the areas in front of the twig (you can lower the opacity of the text layer temporarily if you need to).

P.S. Don’t you love my hot pink leopard t-shirt?

Summer Birthdays Galore!

I’m home from my vacation, and I have lots of catching up to do!! We had a wonderful time in New England, if you want to see some photos from my trip, you can check them out here (I will be adding more soon). During our vacation, we had Gabe’s second birthday party and we also had a big cook-out to celebrate all of the summer birthdays in the family (mine included). What a great trip!!!

Meanwhile, in the digital scrapbooking world, there have also been plenty of birthday celebrations and new releases too, check it out:

Shabby Miss Jenn had a birthday bash with tons of new releases!

I made this card with her huge Birthday Wishes kit – it’s just what I needed!

This fun page about the crazy contest between my husband and his friends was made with SMJ’s new Going Green kit (p.s. I know about the typo, lol)

And Lanne has some new photo tools in the shoppe – I have been playing around with her awesome photo textures. NOTE: I am still really new to using these, so I have no idea if I’m doing it right, but I’m having fun at least LOL!

And the page above was made with Shabby Miss Jenn’s Pickled Petunias available at the super cool Aussie shop www.pickleberrypop.com!

Shabby Princess also had some new releases while I was away!

This page is made with her new Sandbox collection, great for boy pages!!!

And my favorite collection from this new release is Gabby, which I used for the page above – there are so many great pieces in there, so go check it out to see the rest :)!

And Shabby Princess also did a collab with Gina Miller, called Fresh-n-Fruity, which is available at Gina Miller Designs. I used it to make the page above :).

Last but not least, Weeds and Wildflowers is kicking off a big birthday bash starting TODAY! There’s a big sale going on (including all of my Quick Albums)! Here’s the message from their site:

Phew! Sorry for the long post, but I think I’m all caught up now :)!!! Happy shopping ;).

Blissful Flourish Album Pics

Hi All, hope you’re having a great weekend!

I just wanted to pop in here really quick to show you the photos of the Blissful Flourish Album I just finished :). Don’t forget that the flourish albums are on sale at Weeds and Wildflowers this weekend ($4 each or $8 for all three).

Tips and Tricks

  • Once you cut out the flourish album shapes you usually need to make some adjustments to get them to fit the chipboard pages. For the first one I made, I used scissors to trim the pages, then sanded the edges after adhering them. For this album, I adhered the pages, then I used a craft knife to trim off the excess paper. Lastly, I used the edge of a pair of scissors to distress the edges.
  • Using StazOn ink, I stamped a butterfly onto clear transparency, cut out the image, and folded it in half before adhering it to my page. I also used the same stamp on some of the Prima flowers.
  • Notice that there are plenty of “imperfections” in this album (the messy journaling, the crooked edges around the grommet, etc) – you will have more fun and be happier with the result if you focus on creative expression and not perfection when making hybrid albums :).
  • Glitter, “bling” and brightly colored embellishments look awesome on an energetic album like this one, so don’t hold back :)!!

New Flourish Albums (SALE)!

How’s everyone doing? I hope you’re having a fabulous summer – or whatever season it is in your part of the world ;)! Things are wonderful where I am, but the days are going by way too fast, as always!

Soooooo…. are you ready for some NEW quick albums? I know it has been a while since I have released anything at Weeds and Wildflowers, but it’s because I really wanted to put these three albums together in the store and sell them as a set. Now that I have pretty much gotten the hang of square and rectangle albums I am excited to start making some SHAPED albums!!!!! These things are all the rage lately, I’m seeing them everywhere I couldn’t wait to make some of my own. When I saw the flourish chipboard albums at Oriental Trading Company, I immediately knew I just had to have them lol! For less than $9, you get three different flourish album shapes, with 20 pages each. Since I usually only use 10 pages per album, I will get 6 albums out of this set – yippee :)!  So I made some quick page albums to work with the different shapes in this set. Of course you don’t need to have the chipboard albums to make these, you could always just mount them on cardstock or your own homemade chipboard shapes too :).

You can buy each of the flourish albums separately, OR if you want to get all three, you save a bunch (it’s like a buy two get one free deal)! You can click on the images below to be taken to the Weeds and Wildflowers store :). Oh, and they are all 20% off through this weekend too!!

I have just finished making the Cosmos album and I’m still working on the Blissful and Doodly Albums. So fun! Here are pics of the one I made so far, stay tuned for more :)!

So have you made a shaped album? What shapes are your favorites? Please share links to some shaped albums you love – I can’t get enough of these things lol! By-the-way, if you like these as much as I do, you are gonna looooove the next featured scrapper I have lined up :). Any guesses as to who that might be ;)?

New Goodies and a Sale at the Shabby Shoppe!

I LOVE all the new stuff Shabby Princess has out right now!!! There are two new square albums and one CD album on sale, plus six sets of her new round labels (more on those below).

Also, if you aren’t one of the 15,000+ members of DigiShop Talk (DST), you may not know that she is the featured designer there this month, check out her interview (and more) right here! She created a special kit just for DST Gold Members, which is so pretty and summery, I LOVE it :)!

Here’s the page I made with the kit, Summer Cottage:

Sister Love

I was soooo thrilled to see that it was printed in this month’s DigiShop Talk Insider! I think that was my first time ever being published in there :). Isn’t this a nice photo of my sister and me? I really love this kit, and I was so inspired by the round labels in the kit that I went a little circle crazy cropping all the pretty papers into round shapes too LOL! Well even if I did go overboard on the circles a tiny bit, I like anyway!

Photoshop Tip: To quickly add lots of patterned paper circles to my page, I created a new layer, then I used a hard-edged circle brush to draw some lines across the page (in the brush palette I had changed the settings so that the brush size would be varied and the circles would not be overlapping). Then I changed the brush color and repeated the same steps again a few more times, each time on a new layer. When I was happy with the placement of all my circles, I used each of the circle layers as a clipping mask for my patterned papers :)!

Shabby Princess was also inspired by her round labels from the Summer Cottage kit. In fact, she made six more themed sets of them, which are all on sale at the Shabby Shoppe for only $.99 for a limited time. I love them all, and I love that each set coordinates with a different one of her kits.

On Sale for $.99 at The Shabby Shoppe!

I can totally see myself using these for cards and other hybrid projects too – so fun! If you love these as much as I do, you’ll want to go grab them at The Shabby Shoppe while they’re still on sale :)!

National Scrapbook Day Recap

Well, I hope your day has been as lovely as mine has, there’s nothing like a whole day to celebrate SCRAPBOOKING :)! I know I was only able to see a tiny portion of the events going on in the scrapbooking world – but I almost prefer it that way, it can be a bit overwhelming to see SO many sales, and SO many freebies, challenges, chats, prizes etc! Phew!

Speaking of which, I’m sorry if I have overwhelmed you by posting so many times today (especially you, email subscribers)! I don’t usually do that, but I haven’t had a chance to blog in so long, and my husband was soooooo sweet to watch Gabe for me today while I helped host the Prima Hybrid Crop, surfed a few other events, shared tons of my most recent projects, and of course, got some scrapbooking done!!! (Thanks Babe)!!!

Anyway, in case you missed some (or all) of my NSD postings in all the excitement, here’s a little recap for you. If you are reading this on Saturday night or Sunday, you might still be able to catch some of these :)!

Weeds and Wildflowers Party Extended

Just wanted to pop in to let you know that the big one year birthday celebration at Weeds & Wildflowers has been extended until tomorrow night. There was such a flood of people over the weekend that the site crashed, so they have extended the sale and all of the other festivities :). This is a great time to grab my Being Me Quick Album or In Bloom Brag Book - they’re both 25% off right now ;)!

And I made more digital pages! This two-pager uses flowers from the third set of Grandmother’s Pressed Flowers. I’m finding this collection works so well with my photos from Savannah, I guess it’s because that city is like one big beautiful garden :)!
