Girly Baby Shower Card

Just wanted to share this baby shower card I made recently. I found out from one of my online scrapping friends that there are some parts of the world that don’t have baby showers for pregnant ladies. So if you are from one of those places, let me explain :). A baby shower is a celebration (usually before a baby is born), where friends and family can shower the soon-to-be mom/dad with gifts of love and encouragement to help them feel more prepared for the baby’s arrival. I love baby showers! Anyway, one of my friends from church is expecting a little girl, so I gave her this card at her baby shower on Sunday. As a mom of a boy I take every chance I can get to make something pretty and PINK :)!

Credits: Papers by Shabby Princess (one digital, one “real” from Bo Bunny); flowers and button by Prima; ink by Ranger Industries; other: ribbons, cardstock, pink thread.

Tips and Tricks

  • Inking each piece of paper softened the edges and unified the look.
  • I alternated straight stitches and blanket stitches along one of the papers – I learned how to make a blanket stitch right here. I really wanted to use this stitch, because it reminds me of baby blankets :). Oh, and remember to use the needle to pierce all of your holes in the paper BEFORE you start stitching, it will make sewing the paper much easier!
  • The base of the flower is actually two of the same type of Prima flowers. I wanted to use both, but was having trouble layering them, so I cut off half of each of the petals on the green flower, and layered it directly over the pink one.
  • To make the tag, I used a left over (negative) piece of cardstock from a tag die-cut as a stencil to trace the tag shape. Then I drew the design on with markers and cut out my home-made tag :)
