Another Fun Challenge!

This page makes me so happy! Not just because of the bright colors and fun photo of my sister and me, but because it is the very first page I have scrapped about her miraculous life transformation – and I am soooooo proud of her and all that she has accomplished, now that she has Jesus in her life :)!!! Of course, there is a long personal story behind this page, but let’s just say that she once was lost, and now she’s found and we have a LOT to celebrate :). I was so excited to see her during my vacation, and we had the most fun together that we’ve had in the past 10+ years!

Oh yeah, the challenge –  that’s what I meant to come here and tell you about lol! I made this page for the super fun challenge going on as part of the Weeds and Wildflowers Birthday Party Bash. Everyone who enters will get a freebie and have a chance to win the new W&W Collab kit (which I used for this page), plus the challenge winner will win a $10 gift card to the shoppe! *Click here for more details* Hope you join in!

P.S. I posted some more photos from my vacation here :).

SMJ Scraplift Challenge

I had so much fun lifting this awesome page by Juliet, called Rest, for the challenge going on at the SMJ team blog. I hope you join in the challenge too – SMJ has a freebie for everyone who participates, and there will be TWO winners who will each receive $50 gift cards to Shabby Miss Jenn designs :)!!! Look here for more details.

This is the first of many scrapbook pages about our recent vacation! I posted more photos and journaling about this evening in Cape Cod right here if you want to go check them out :).

National Scrapbook Day Recap

Well, I hope your day has been as lovely as mine has, there’s nothing like a whole day to celebrate SCRAPBOOKING :)! I know I was only able to see a tiny portion of the events going on in the scrapbooking world – but I almost prefer it that way, it can be a bit overwhelming to see SO many sales, and SO many freebies, challenges, chats, prizes etc! Phew!

Speaking of which, I’m sorry if I have overwhelmed you by posting so many times today (especially you, email subscribers)! I don’t usually do that, but I haven’t had a chance to blog in so long, and my husband was soooooo sweet to watch Gabe for me today while I helped host the Prima Hybrid Crop, surfed a few other events, shared tons of my most recent projects, and of course, got some scrapbooking done!!! (Thanks Babe)!!!

Anyway, in case you missed some (or all) of my NSD postings in all the excitement, here’s a little recap for you. If you are reading this on Saturday night or Sunday, you might still be able to catch some of these :)!

And here are a few other things I came across today that should be noted:

1) A fun and funky FREE kit by Emily Powers can be found here.

2) ScrapArtist is selling a super-sized collab kit for only $3.33 (for their 3rd Birthday :)!

3) If you are STILL looking for more, I’m sure you can find all you need at the DigiShop Talk {I}NSD Forum!

Wow, I blogged eight times today! That has to be my all-time record :)! Hmmm, how shall I celebrate? Leave me a comment on any of today’s (May 3rd’s) blog posts telling me your favorite thing about National Scrapbook Day, and perhaps I will choose one or two people to send a little gift too ;)!

Shabby Miss Jenn Challenge

Even though I’m not playing for a prize (since I’m on her creative team), I still wanted to make a page for Shabby Miss Jenn’s Challenge – I LOVE the freebie she made for it!!!

Click here for the challenge details (but hurry, it ends soon)!

Here’s the challenge freebie (you can still grab it, even if you don’t participate):

Shabby Miss Jenn Freebie

And here’s the page I made for the challenge:

Love of Flowers

Credits: Challenge Freebie, Weeds & Daisies, Spring Junk Pile, Fallin’ Blooms, Autumn TidBits – All by Shabby Miss Jenn; Letters from the Patio by Dianne Rigdon. Font: Jane Austen.

Journaling:

because they reveal God’s
glory and remind me of
how awesome a creator he
is, because they appeal to
the hopeless romantic in
me, because they remind
me of so many happy
times in my life – and
sad ones too – not soon to
be forgotten, because of the
gardens my mother has
always lovingly cared for
and taught me about, and
the wonderful memories
of visiting the botanical
gardens with my mom,
grandma and family -
because of countless little
reasons, I have such a deep
love of flowers

Photoshop Tip: I love to use photoshop blend modes, and I’m always experimenting with the different effects I can get with them. On this page, I enlarged a flower photo, and placed it over the shabby brown background from the freebie above. Then, in the layers palette, I changed the photo’s blend mode to “Color Burn”. When I added my text, I used an off-white color and placed the text UNDER the photo layer. I really liked the pretty color variation the blended photo gave the text and background!

Hybrid Challenge at ScrapArtist

It’s been a while since I have participated in one of the challenges at the ScrapArtist blog, and since there is a hybrid one going on right now, I couldn’t resist :)! The challenge is to ink the edges, and here’s my entry:
