Happy New Year !! I hope you all enjoyed your holidays!! I am truly enjoying mine – my Mother-in-law is still in town until Tuesday, so we are having a wonderful extended visit . I feel a little bad about being MIA from Scrapbook Ideas and the online scrapping world, so I thought a little sale might help make up for it .
My mom sent me a link to this video, and I just had to share it here too – it really moved and motivated me! I hope it will do the same for you.
Interested in helping to provide clean water to developing countries? You can make a donation right here (I did!):

I enjoy giving to various charities throughout the year, but there is something about Christmas that makes me want to give even more than usual. Partly because I feel so blessed myself, and I want my blessings to overflow into the lives of others. But mostly it is because I feel compelled to give when I think about the true meaning of Christmas: God’s greatest gift to us, his son Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
I love love LOVE Christmas and all of the many joys of the season, but I can honestly say I get the most joy from giving to others, especially those who need the most!
Here are some scrapbook pages about Christmas giving… you didn’t think I would have a post with nothing scrappy in it, did you ?
The first one is by Oriana, I was so impressed and inspired by her idea!
These next two are by me – Gabe and two of his cousins each packed a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child again this year. This tradition gets more fun each year as the kids get older and have a deeper understanding of the meaning and significance of giving to other kids. If you want to see Gabe with his box from last year click here .
What is your favorite charity to give to at Christmas time? Have you scrapped about your giving traditions? I’d love to hear about them ! {HUGS} Jess
****FAMILY MEMBERS: Don’t look at this one please !****
Here’s an idea I have been wanting to try ever since I saw it on Kayla’s blog last year around this time: homemade caramel dip! I was amazed that you can make this great treat right in the can without ever even opening it . You just remove the labels from some cans of sweetened condensed milk, put them into a deep pot, and completely cover them with water, then boil them for three hours (adding water when needed). The milk turns into a caramel-y type sauce – who knew?? But I learned after the fact that it can be dangerous because the cans will exploded if the water level drops below the tops of the cans! Good thing I remembered to keep adding water !!! Despite the risk, I will be making more of these – I tested some, and it is YUMMY!
Here’s a gift basket idea: Decorate cans of homemade caramel dip (I used printed papers from Chrstmas Heart), add some apples, candies and bags of nuts and you have a sweet gift to be enjoyed by all … I hope !
Gabe and I have a busy day ahead of us, making yummy homemade Christmas treats and packing parcels for far away loved ones. I hope your week is off to a great start – here’s another freebie from me ! ~xo Jess

Create a Starburst Look with Solid Papers
Papers with a starburst pattern on them are so fun, and they’re great for emphasizing part of your page, as I have done in the layout above. To get this look using a simple solid paper I followed these steps:
Open the solid paper in photoshop.
Using the Polygonal Lasso Tool, draw out some selections for the “rays” for your starburst. Draw the first ray, making a closed shape (it will have marching ants around it when you are finished). Holding down the shift key, draw the rest of the rays. You only need to draw the lighter colored rays. You can be a perfectionist and make sure all the rays meet perfectly in the center, or you can just make rough shapes like I did .
After step 2, you should have all of your light colored rays selected (outlined with marching ants). Right click inside one of the selections, and choose “layer via copy”
Change the blend mode of the new layer you just created to “screen”, and adjust the opacity to your liking (I used 63% for this example).
Meeeeeeerry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!! I was browsing through last year’s posts about my hybrid Christmas projects, and I thought I’d share some of the pics again in case some of you are newer readers. There are some fun ideas here I plan to borrow from for this year’s gifts ! If you click the images, you will be taken to the original post, which has more information about each project. All of these projects were made with either Shabby Princess, Shabby Miss Jenn or Weeds and Wildflowers digital designs. If you like these, you will LOVE their new designs for this year even more!!! But I’m pretty sure all of the designs from last year are still available in their stores as well .
Have you made any hybrid Christmas gifts this year? Do you plan to? I’d love to hear what you’re making, so please share – I still have more people on my list to make things for . And if you have pics online, please link us up !!!
