100 Days of Summer Scrapbook Ideas – Day 100!!

I can’t believe a whole month has gone by without a summer scrapbooking post from me! This was our most busy/crazy summer so far, and yet I can’t believe I have stayed on top of things and I even finished my August layout IN AUGUST :)! It is all thanks to the awesome Project Scrap templates – they made my scrapbooking so easy this summer, and I love every new set! Here are the latest two layouts, from July and August. That will be all for summer scrapbooking ideas this year – now that the kids are back in school, I am ready to think about fall :)!

Then and Now Scrapbook Layouts {100 Days of Summer Scrapbook Ideas! Day 69}

As we near the end of summer, I find myself looking for even more scrapbooking shortcuts to help me stay on top of this year’s photos. As my regular readers know, I am participating in “Project Scrap”, which challenges me to create at least one two-page layout per month. I am also working on last summer’s photos, which I never got around to scrapbooking. This month, I decided to try something new as I scrapbooked photos from both June 2011 and June 2012 for two separate scrapbooks. I used the same template, in fact almost the same exact designs, for both years! This not only helped me get both layouts done in record time, but it’s really fun to see them side by side as a “then and now”. The layouts will be printed in two different books, so it will be easy to compare them :).

NOW: Summer Scrapbook Layout for June 2012

In case you’re wondering, they didn’t grow out of their glasses, but they have “transition” lenses now, which turn into sunglasses outside. I had them take off their glasses for these photos, because I didn’t like how the sunglasses hid their pretty blue eyes :)! Here are the close-ups of the pages:

A Faithbook Idea for Father’s Day {100 Days of Summer Scrapbook Ideas! Day 60}

As much as possible, I like to include faithbooking into my regular scrapbooks – to help remind myself of God’s goodness, and to teach my children about His love. On father’s day, I am especially reminded of God’s love for His children because it is reflected in the way my husband cares for our kids. The kids and I are so blessed by him!

This page was meant for the June challenge over at the Shabby Shoppe blog – oopsie! I am behind schedule, as usual this summer :)! Hopefully I can get on top of things and get in on the July template challenge, due August 2nd. There are soooo many things in the shabby shoppe that I would love to buy if I win that $25 gift card :)!

Digital Scrapbook Pages for Summertime {100 Days of Summer Scrapbook Ideas! Day 48}

Finding time for scrapbooking in the summer can be quite the challenge, but these gorgeous digital scrapbooking templates, from the Shabby Shoppe blog have really helped me! I finished my May layout for Project Scrap today, now I just need to make one for June and I will be all caught up for 2012 – yippie!

100 Days of Summer Scrapbook Ideas {Day 3: Taking Photos Outside}

I LOVE being a mom, and my two sweet kids are a blessing to me every day! When my second was born, it took us a while to get used to the new dynamic, and my scrapbooking was pretty much put on hold (as were a lot of other things). Anyway, it’s really fun for me as I’m getting caught up, because I’m scrapbooking photos from this year as well as photos from the same time of year in previous years. It is AMAZING how much the kids change in just one year! Makes me really want to cherish every moment with them even more :).

I realize that Mother’s Day photos are more springy than summery – but the scrapbooking tips I want to share with you today are about taking photos outside – perfect for summertime :)!

Tips for Taking Photos Outside:

  • The best light is actually not in bright sunshine, as you might expect! The bright light tends to create harsh shadows and makes you squint too much. For softer light, try sitting in the shade, like I did with my kids for our Mother’s Day photo.
  • Taking photos on a cloudy/overcast day also works – just try to sit near something bright and colorful to counter the dull colors, like in our photo in a huge blue chair (above).
  • If you plan on sitting on the ground, bring along a blanket or quilt – it’s handy for keeping clean and comfortable – plus it adds extra sweetness :). I found mine at a yard sale :)!

Digital Scrapbook Pages for Spring!

I’m finally caught up with Project SCRAP! Now I just need to stay caught up :). Meanwhile I am also trying to work on several bigger scrapbooks, for travels, weddings and other events. Little by little I’m making progress :). Here is my main layout for last month (April 2012):

I hadn’t intended to make it this girly, but all the pink and flowers fit perfectly for April, don’t you think?

I also have lots of Easter photos, but I’ll save those for another layout :).

Are you working on any scrapbooking projects right now?

I Love Digital Scrapbook Templates!

I went from way behind schedule to almost caught up in a couple of days! Seriously, if it weren’t for shortcuts like photo books and templates, I would feel totally overwhelmed trying to keep up with my scrapbooking :)! Now I just need to do the April layout, and I will be back on schedule with Project SCRAP. If you haven’t joined in, you really should – the free templates are wonderful, and the encouragement and inspiration from the Shabby Princess team and other scrapbookers will help keep you motivated :)!

Don’t you love these cute t-shirts Uncle Michael and Auntie Tanya gave the kids for Christmas? They sure know how to butter us up ;). There were some for Chris and me too, which you can see in our February family photo. LOL!

Floral Springtime Scrapbook Pages

I may be keeping up with my 2012 scrapbooking with Project Scrap, but I am still pretty far behind on my 2011 pages, so I will be working on those little by little throughout this year, too. I DID get my winter 2011 book finished and printed, so next up are some SPRING scrapbook pages! I have to say, it is so nice so be looking at bright floral pictures and scrapbook papers – it makes me excited about the days to come :)! Anyway, here are the first two pages in my Spring 2011 book:

I used all Shabby Princess products for theses pages, check here for credits :)!
