Here’s a layout inspired by some of the most popular trends I’ve noticed in online galleries. I’ve seen so many great layouts featuring circles lately. Circles are pleasing to look at and add unexpected interest to your page. Another trend is to have one large photo positioned in a lower corner of the page and grouped with a few embellishments. This is a simple yet very effective way to keep the focus on your subject. I also used some doodles on my page – they are such a hot trend right now! I can see why, they create a fun & funky feel to the page. Take a look around these online galleries to see what trends catch your eye: Simple Scrapbooks; Scrapbook-bytes; Sweet Shoppe Designs; The Shabby Shoppe; Scrapbook.com; DesignerDigitals; Creating Keepsakes; DigiShop Talk; ScrapArtist; Two Peas in a Bucket Layouts & Two Peas in a Bucket Digital Layouts
To create the grungy looking inked edge around my photo, I used an inexpensive ink pad (the type that is thrown in free when you buy cheap stamps), and I watered the ink down more than I normally would. Then I used a make-up applicator sponge (the triangular type) to apply the ink by dabbing it lightly around the edges of the photo. Don’t be afraid to experiment with new ways to use ink on your pages – you’ll be surprised at the range of artistic possibilities you’ll discover!
